Just had the opportunity to view numerous pics of your truck. I have a silver 2010 Lariat 4x4 and am unhappy with the 275x70x18's I put on it. Now that I have seen your truck, I'm really unhappy. Great job, it looks awesome. Now I know what size tire I want and how it will look.
i choose to go with the 305/55/20 because i only wanted to go to a 33" tall tire - i was worried the larger I went the more effects I would feel from the change (gas mileage, drop in acceleration, handling, etc.) and I also did not want any rubbing issues. I can report that there is no rub with the setup I have. After having them, i do not think there would have been much if any difference in the issues I had concerns about if i had choose to go to a larger diameter tire.
also, from the pictures i saw, i just liked to look too. I didn't want the ENTIRE wheel well filled up with tires that looked to big to fit in there, and the 33" height did that for me. I wanted as wide as i could get regardless, as that is the look I was after and the performance of the wide tires offroad is amazing
I think your setup looks absolutely perfect; really love the Nitto Trails!
I'm new to forum and been doing research all month. I have 2011 FX4/3.73/stock 20" wheels. I'm adding a 2" AS level next week and want to do tires, too. Choices are BFG ATKO or Nitto Trails (like you). Is there a reason you chose the 305/55/20 over, say, 285/65/20 or 295/60/20? Do you like the width more than the height or is there a rubbing issue you think I might have with a taller tire?
No issues other then being real close on the inside to the upper control arm. No rubbing though with the Terra Grapplers. I ran at stock height with the 305's for about 6k miles so they will work on a 4x4 in stock form. Thank's for the comment on this old guy's ride! Don
