yeah when i first started posting i was just taking previous owner at his word that it was an 85. a closer look at the title and a vin lookup and i found out i actually had an 84. go figure- one more screw up of previous owner. once i fix all that he "fixed" it should be a good runner. except this dang electrical......

you said you had access to a shop manual for an 84 f150? i am in need of an electrical diagram better than the one in the haynes. weird electrical gremlin.
