Hi Cord...

I had used both with no problems either way. On my previous truck (2009 FX4), I used the taped VentVisors and they were very secure with no issues. The in-channel ones are nice in that they are totally contained within the window frame so I think overall I prefer that look. But the taped ones are fine too if you make sure you align them carefully.

Yes, I remember it wasn't hard at all; had to remove some screws and pull a bunch of tabs surrounding the grille. Install was just as simple. The trick is taking your time and not forcing anything too hard that you break any tabs. Here is a link to a thread on the install:

Hi there: The grille for my 2008 XLT was from Roush Performance.

They were having a clearout sale at the time. I don't know if they are still selling the grilles so might want to check out their site or give them a call.
