Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread. I have a 04 lariat with 114,000+ miles. Runs great, however at idle it is a little rough, the diesel sound starts once it's at normal temp. I have changed the oil to synthetic with motorcraft filter, new VCT solenoids, seafoamed the gas. I get about 14.2 on the avg. gas meter. The diesel noise chaps my hide! suggestions for my next move?

San Diego, CA is home, I'm 60+ and this is my second f150. I had an f150 in 1995 for 5 days, took it back to the dealer and he gladly returned my trade in and deposit (burned to much gas). I'm retired now and want to travel and camp out throughout this beautiful county.

    How did you find
Searching the enternet for a knocking sound in the rear end of my 2004 f150 SC. Problem solved.
