I need help, I have a 1986 f150 Lariat XLT with dual tanks. It drives fine on the rear tank, when I switch to the front tank it acts like its out of gas. One day I took the gas cap off the front and gas jumped from the tank. When I try to pump gaas in front tank it act as the tank is full.

I see your a retired master mechanic. I'm hoping you can help? I have a 1995 F150 XLT 4x4 302 with dual tanks. I have a fuel issue with gas leaking back into the rear tank from the front. After I fill up the front tank and the rear tank is empty I will check the rear tank after a few days and it's almost half full. Starts up every morning perfectly, runs great intermittingly then will spudder on the freeway, stall, then restart itself. This happens 2-3 times a week. sometimes I have to pull over and wait a minute and restart the truck, then its fine. Any ideas? Should I replace the front, back, or both fuel pumps? D in Santa Rosa, CA
