"POP N LOCK" Tail gate locking devise for many steel handled tail gates. Get some schooling from the guy who's rewriting the books. Don't be fooled. This may look like just a piece of metal only holding one side of the OEM lever preventing it from flexing open when pulled on the outside. Also, with its flimsy look, in all reality if you pulled the handle on the outside very hard it would snap right? Wrong! Remember that the little bit of chrome you see at the bottom of the picture is the outside handle and it is in fact not a part of the oem (x) looking lever you see that’s on the inside. So, when the lock is engaged and there is to much pressure on the chrome handle it will slip out of position leaving the (x) shaped oem lever in the same place unmoved thus staying locked. I hope you got that. Just think that part A moves part B but if part B is locked then part A is subject to slip or bypass. Part A being the chrome handle and part B being the (x) shaped lever. Removing the inner skin along with the arm rest is half the work. Tools needed is a 12''x24'' sheet of galvanized metal, a pare of tin snips, a box of rivets, a hand held rivet gun, a drill and a few bits. The idea of the installation is to keep out intruders using a slim jim to snatch your ride. We have all seen that guy around the corner with his slim jim kit just waiting to show you how fast he can get in your truck, or at least I have. I don’t know about you, but for a few buck worth of hardware and dads borrowed tools you can turn your ride into a fortress. What I did was easy and you can do it to. What you want to do is slide the metal sheet in the hole of the door and use it to guard the door pin rod on all sides creating a barrier around the rod making it impossible to be hooked from the outside. Before you mount it in place make sure the metal sheet is not interfering with the window rolling up or down. One more thing, before you start this installation make sure you have a spare door key somewhere hidden outside the truck or at least at home. If you get your keys locked in with anti slim jim panel’s installed you will have to break the glass to get in! To all you die hard F-150 guys out there get back at me and post some photos if you did the same thing, I’d like to see your end results.
