Aux bed LED's
I would like to install some LED's with a switch in the bed and had some questions.
1. A buddy (and this site) said I can tap into the rear 7pin harness. I read that I have to install some connector that is from the factory (little grey box with 3/4 wires in a baggy in my glovebox). Is this true?
2. Should I add a fuse between the 7pin and the switch?
3. I'm pretty sure I'm going to tuck my wiring up under the bedside, down the stake pocket and install the switch in one of the holes at the rear for the extender.
Have others done this and are you willing to post pics so I have a reference?
4. Is 20g wire going to be sufficient?

So no one has ever attempted to put aux lights in their bed?

1. I don't know. I ran a dedicated 10ga hot wire from my battery to the rear of the truck. I had additional power requirements other than lighting.
2. The LED strip probably draws .5A. I added a fuse to my wire running from the battery, but probably would not if I was just doing the LED strip.
3. I'd go with 16-18ga minimum for that light strip. 20ga is tiny and just a pain to strip/crimp/work with.
