Default How-To Replace Headliner

This post will show you how to replace your headliner in your 1996 Ford F-150 regular cab. It's a pretty simple task with just a simple know-how and some simple tools and headliner material.
What you need:
1)Phillips & flat head screwdriver
2)Knife or scissors
3)Wire brush
4)Headliner adhesive
5)Headliner material

You can pick up headliner material and the adhesive from your local fabric store for $35 max. And if you don't have a wire brush, you can pick one up at your local hardware store for $5
(P.S. You cannot get away without having a wire brush..)

First off you're going to need to take out all the trim screws out of your trim. There should be (14) total. (Not including visor screws)
Make sure you remember which screws go where because there is different lengths of screws

There is one screw on each side in the door jam. Be careful, they cracked easily

Once unscrewed, just pull them off and set them aside.

Remove the screw that holds the visor hanger

Next, you have to take the dome light down. I don't have a picture of this because I forgot and it was getting really warm.. But after that the headliner should be free to just pull down!

Next, you peel of the old headliner material and discard. Now this is where the fun begins! Take your wire brush and start scrubbin'. You need your headliner frame nearly spotless to promote perfect adhesion.

Once cleaned, just lay the material out to make sure it fits. When laid out, pull one side over and spray heavily. Make sure to get edges very well. Then lay the material down keeping it taught to ensure no creases. Repeat on the other side!

(Sorry no picture, won't load)

Cut out necessary holes and repeat all the steps in reverse order and then you're done!

Looks good I did mine a couple of months ago. I used black speaker box carpet I had left over. But did everything else the same as you and turned out great.
