Default 1995 ford f150 2wd

I love my truck and don't want to get rid of it that being said I want to put a locking differential in it I have no idea what to get when it comes to diffs. It's a 2 wheel drive but sometimes it has to go a little off road and I just want the truck to get a little more grip with a locking differential. Does anyone know the easiest to install and a cheap good locking diff. Please help with ideas. Also it's a 300 i6 5 speed don't want to do an engine swap either just want a little more out of this bullet proof engine. I need ideas on that to.

Try finding a factory rear end with limited slip and a lower gear ratio. Might want to see what gears you have now. Depending on what's in there, you may not want to go lower.

go to a welding shop somewhere and just get your spyder gears welded, youll have axle hop when you turn corners, but its the cheap easy route

You most likely have 3:55 gears. The most common one on these trucks. There should be a tag on the axle pumpkin cover on one bolt. It tells you your gear ratio. The 8.8s were un commonly limited slip. The 9inch ford was more common to be lsd. But look to spend over $120 for a good one.

You're best bet would be to search scrap yards in your area. Like he said its not too easy to find a Ford 8.8 with Limited Slip. I'm actually in the same boat as you as far as gear ratio goes. Mine currently has 2.73 gears, which is nice on the highway but terrible both on stop-and-go gas mileage and U-Joints. There's another current rear end thread that I posted and there's some good feedback that might be helpful to you.

You will need a carrier for 31 spline axles.
