Default Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit Failure

On my 1994 5.0L f150 (E40D) I'm getting this code 629 Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit. The problem I am having is that, when I put the truck in drive, the truck dies (Like Drive is a kill switch). I can put it into 1st then 2nd then Drive, but when I come to a stop I have to throw it back into 1st it will die.
Classic rookie DIY'er I went and started throwing parts at it. I replaced the solenoid pack, filter, tranny oil and oil, and the rig is still doing the same thing. If I disconnect the passenger side wiring harness, that would tell me if problem is in the solenoid. Since the solenoid pack is new, If I go dissconnect the solenoid pack and the problem goes away, that would mean the problem is where????
In the wiring harness somewhere?
I'll go check...

If anyone knows howto remedy this problem my stepson would be most greatful, this problem developed on his 16th B-day. Poor guy hasn't been able to drive his truck to school (or anywhere) as a licensed teenager.

I'm fighting the same demon. ECM has put trans in limp mode.

After you clear the code 629 does it appear again during the KOEO test without driving or starting the vehicle?
if so (welcome to my world) check the purple/yellow (not purple/orange) wire for continuity from the c103 connector located below the brake master cylinder to the solenoid pack connector. Easier to access if you pull the seats and carpet and go through the hump cover in the floorboard. if test okay check from c103 to the ECM connector 60 pin rectangle shaped located driverside firewall. if test ok take out ECM and open it up looking for leaking capacitors on the PC board or corrosion on PC board. Post results.

9/10 out of ten, it means you need a torque converter, which means you might as do a rebuild on it just because of the age of the vehicle. I recommend pulling the transmission oil pan to inspect the fluid and what the bottom of the pan looks like (to check for shavings). If you post a pic, I could give you an idea of what you're looking at. To pull the pan should only take you 20 minutes at most.
