Default 2wd to 4wd conversion?

I have two 93 ford f150's one of which is 2wd the other 4 one had a beet up body and trashed engine I like the look of the other I want to take the nice one and convert it to 4wd the only thing wrong with the 4wd is the bad body and engine how hard would it be to change over the transmission drive shaft rear end and the front end form the 4 wheel drive and put it on the 2 wheel drive both have the 5.0 efi engine.

It's possible but it would be cheaper to go find a used 93 4X4 and buy that.

if you have to ask...

"in theory, theory and practice are not that different. In practice, however..." In other words, I know that I could read and understand how to do what you are trying to do for example. In practice, there is not a chance in hell I could actually do it without killing myself and / or the truck.

Only you know your mechanical abilities. Somewhat who's been doing it for 20 yrs will tell you "it's the same truck, it's easy". But if you have never done it, you might get into more trouble than it's worth.

It sounds like you want to do it. You have the trucks, you have the parts, just give it a shot you can always pay someone to fix your mess later on

The easiest way to do the transplant would be to remove the cab, box and drive train from the 2wd and place it in/on the 4wd chassis.

It would be easier to swap cabs, beds and engines.

you need some tools to do this conversion, you know? engine hoist would probably be a good one to have at some point!

I was looking underneath them today being Friday it looks as if I can just unbolt everything I need and put it in my truck I would just need to lift the entire front end of the truck any ideas?
