Default Radiator change out '89 F150

Bought a brand new radiator at O'Rileys today, got the old one out and new one in. Well got everything hooked up and was going to hook up the trans cooling lines last, needless to say they didnt fit the fitting on the radiator. After many head scratches I think I have narrowed it down to the new fitting on the radiator being "flared" and they fittings on the lines not being "flared". Does any know if this is correct or has anyone ran into this problem? Any suggestions are more than welcomed.

I actually just put a new radiator in my truck about a week ago. I had gotten mine from advance auto, and the reviews online said that there was an issue with the tranny cooler lines, but I had no issues with it at all. They fit in perfectly, despite the reviews. Mine however is a 95 with a 5.0

What you could do however, I believe they are such, that you can just take the fitting out of the radiator, go to homo-depot and get a new nipple that fits your existing fittings.

Might have something to do with the conversion from standard to metric as well.
i've also seen a lot of rads with an adaptor screwed in to the rad and the lines screwed into the adaptors.
So you're probably not the first one to run in to the issue.
Take the new fittings out of the rad and your old rad with you to the parts store and you should be able to find something.
