No heat -26 here help!!!
I have a 1988 F150 straight 6. I have lost all heat. I topped off the anti freeze. I also replaced the Thermostat last night. Still no heat. I did have a leak this morning. I am replacing the gasket this afternoon, as last night i was using a flashlight and a step stool in -20 weather to do so. Any other ideas as to why i would have no heat? ANd just to double check the sping goes into the head and the top or point goes to the water outlet/thermostat housing correct?
Thanks Derek

Possible the heater core froze at -20, had it happen once
-or the hoses going to the heater core
My radiator was actually turning to slush, due to a short drive before allowing the engine to warm up
--Wind chill factor drops the temp even more as you drive
I put cardboard in front of the radiator until the negative Temps were over
I used an electric heater inside the car to warm it up
-or the hoses going to the heater core

Ok replaced gasket and no leaks now, run truck to normal operating temperature, both hoses to /from heater are hot but still ne heat in the truck. is this a heater core or what. Never had this issue , usually add antifreeze and change the thermostat and it fixes everything.

Your heater core could be plugged. Take the inlet and outlet off and flush it. I'd say just use water to flush it but if it's below freezing that might not work for you. My mustang had very little heat coming from it and I ended up flushing the heater core and a ton of rust and crap came out. " that's what you get when you run water instead of antifreeze". Needless to say it worked a lot better afterwards
Or move your heat selector from hot to cold and see if hear it actually changing. I'm not sure if yours isncontroles by vacuum or the metal rod but that could also be an issue
