My first truck!
Hello all,
I bought my first truck a few days ago and am pleased thus far. I got a 1994 Ford F150 6-Cyl, 4.9 L. I have already changed the oil -- which needed to be done badly -- what else should I do to it? Additionally, are there any modifications anybody recommends for me? I am looking for better gas mileage as well as performance. Since I bought the truck I have been driving 55~60 mph. I am only getting about 12 mpg. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. If you plan to keep the truck for a while I suggest buying a Hanes manual which comes in handy (I say it from experience, I don't know much about cars but now I know more than before about my truck). I would also suggest a clean air filter and check the spark plugs for your truck. Also check your tire pressure and alignment. For the 4.9L if one of those is not up to par the gas mileage sucks.

Amy time (and there have been many times) I purchased an older used car or truck, or jeep or motorcycle. ... I change the oil, sparkplugs, air filter, transmission filter, check on the age of the battery, and pull the trottle body off and clean it. Id almost bet money that throttle body is nasty with oil and carbon from the egr.
