Air Injection System Error Code, Smog Pump Delete
Good evening,
I searched quite a bit thinking this topic would have already been addressed elsewhere, it probably has but I have yet to discover it...
Deleted the smog pump on my 1996 F150 4.9 liter. I know that there is a debate about if this is necessary or even a good idea, bottom line I like how quite my engine is and can tell the power difference in the pedal.
I also already have the shortened belt and my smog pump is just about ceased from a few years of not turning.
Problem I am having is the error code caused by inadequate secondary air injection system operation, is there a way to hack this or do I have to live with the "check engine" light on in my dash?
I appreciate any help in advance of answers, thanks guys!
On a side note, I haven't been on in awhile due to a one year deployment. My truck was stored for 18 months and she started right up after a battery swap. All I did was fog the cylinders and treat the gas before storing, gotta love Ford.
