Default Woke up to really low voltage

Parked the truck like every other night, everything seemed normal then the next morning it was running around 9-10 volts. Hasn't raised at all, driving across town. Aftermarket volt gauge as well, so its not just the dummy gauge. Pretty new gold battery. 130 amp alternator. What would cause it to drop so quick? Nothing was on overnight. Alternator problems?

Never fully trust the gauges on the dash. Test the voltage with a voltmeter.

I know, those ones suck so I pair them against my aftermarket gauges and they're a bit more accurate. Plus my turn signals are slow, windshield wipers are slow, etc. I shut off all unnecessary electronics while I'm driving

Whelp. 3:00 am I was dropping off a drunk friend and my truck died. Running at about 8 volts. Even though I kept charging it when it was home, I take it this means my alternator isn't pulling his weight. Gonna tear into it tomorrow morning after a sweet tow ride home.

Check your alternator wiring harness. A bad alternator can melt it and it won't work right. You can also try to unplug it and see if the voltage gets better.

Check out this thread. I posted the TSB concerning the wiring harness.
