Default White Headlight Bulbs

I know I have a lot of irons in the fire! Looking to replace my halogens. What headlight bulb (brand) is the one that burns white like LED white? Not pee yellow like halogen or blue ones either. Seems like a lot of color and glare instead usable light. Thanks

What you are looking for is something in between 5000k and 6000K. My HID bulbs are 6000k and have a touch of blue on the sides but WHITE light in the middle, 5000k is the whitest color you can get.

I'm not sure but for regular halogen setup you may try Osram Sylvania SilverStar Ultra, supposed to be the brightest "regular" bulb on the market. If you want to light up everything get a set of projectors and some 5-6k HIDs.

So can I not just "pop" some 5000k HID or Zenon bulbs into my Halogen set up? I just want a whiter bulb more like my LED fog lights as the halogens have a yellow look to them. Plus you cant even see the halogens behind the wheel with the LED fogs on.

No, you need an HID kit and projectors in place otherwise you will blind (dazzle) other drivers and the light would scatter so it actually won't be very bright. You can retrofit a set of stock style housings with projectors or just get new housing with projectors in them. I put these in and have been extremely happy.

It would be cheaper to retrofit stock style housings but would still recommend buying new housing because the cut of the lens will still dissipate HIDs not to mention the years have probably dulled the plastic.

NICE F150!!!! OK that may be more than I really wanna spend at the moment. As far as Halogen bulbs go what would be the whitest? Ive had Silver Stars on another vehicle and was not that impressed. I didnt think they were much brighter than the OEMs that I replaced on a VW GTI. Just for ****s and giggles what did the HID Kit run you complete?

$168, came with headlight assemblies and HID conversion kit (bulbs and ballasts).

You can do a retrofit for half of that buying new assembly, HID kit, and projectors to put in the assembly.

You may want to try doing this if you want something brighter with halogen bulbs. It allows more power to the headlights thus giving you a brighter light.
