Default Unable to Find Drain on my Battery

I've got an 87' & i was changing the valve cover gaskets when the alternator connection shorted ( i know i should have disconnected the bat.) & the solenoid gave off a hug plume of electrical smoke. It turns over & runs, i had to replace the alternator, But the battery is good. The solenoid functions, but could it be shorted & STILL functioning? My Battery light is on, NO fuses blown & the battery is on a steady but slow drain? Any ideas folks?

If the magical electrical smoke was released from the starter relay, you may want to consider burying it in the backyard and putting a new one on your fender... where there's smoke there's fire... let's start with the obvious first..

I Found the Problem -- It was the Fusible link from the alternator to the solenoid. I replaced the solenoid & the fusible link and it's back to normal. Thanks
