Tachometer installation Questions
Trying to install a Equus 6086 Tachometer in a 94 E150 conversion van.
Black wire to ground, Red to switched 12Volt, White to the dash illumination lights and Green to the capacitor side of the coil (should be the {point} side of the coil). I've tried 2 tachs and still no function. supply voltages 12.9 to 13.8 when charging 5.8 engine runs fine. Is it me doing something wrong?
Or is there a run of bad tachs? {Voltage checked across the tach leads under the dash.
Equus Customer service said that the tach should sweep the dial when first energized. Neither unit I've tried has done that.

Answer Found!
The other lead (the one without the capacitor) activates the Tachometer!
The tach does NOT sweep the dial when powered up.
I was using the lead with capacitor to ground as in the distributors that used points, as capacitor was across the points to prevent arcing. my history and experience lead me on the wrong path - life is a learning program.
