Am troubleshooting power loss problem. Book tells me battery first (check). Next starter relay. I don't have any idea where this is. Book says some are fender mounted. Which fender? Does truck have to be on lift to see it? A tool to check after looking for loose connections? Negative cable on battery removed before checking starter relay? Am new at this and would appreciate any good advice you folks might have.

They may mean the starter relay solenoid which is on the fender beside the battery.
Check, clean and then tighten all your connections - battery + and -, fender mounted (relay) solenoid, starter and ground at block.
Dirty connections are the most common power issue.
Then battery, relay solenoid, starter.

Thank you Chris for post. Found the starter relay on the fender and checked the signal wire from ignition switch shown in book. Very dirty with crust but not corroded but not eaten up. Contact apparently not good so cleaned that all out. Cleaned neg battery post again, checked the other wires from relay and they were tight and fairly clean. Couldn't reach the - cable to the block but cable very tight. Then started it up and it sounds good. So will try driving it tomorrow to make sure it doesn't still click or die. Also got new neg battery cable but have to find someone who will put it on a lift and install it for me. Thanks again for directing me to the location and the how to's! Will give an update after neg cable is in as to how it's running.
