Default Replaced Cluster lights with LED's now most don't work. Suggestions?

Hey all,

I replaced my dash lights and a few are working but the rest are not. Anyone else have this problem?

All lights worked when using clear bulbs.

All LED's are new.

Anyone have a suggestion on what it could be?

I guess I will sit out in the truck at night and remove and reinstall each one and try to figure it out that way if there is no prior knowledge by anyone of this problem.

Thanks

You put them in backwards - they are polarity-sensitive.

Well there you go.

I will flip them all around that are not working and all should be good.

Thanks I post if there are still problems.

FYI the battery light must remain incandescent bulb because of the way the charging system works, it uses resistance (or something) in the bulb and if changed to LED you will have issues with the alt.

I had not heard that. I know I replace it as I have replaced them all. I will try to research this more. Don't mind using the old bulb but got to satisfy my curiosity on this.

Thanks

I think the only way around this for that specific bulb location would be to solder in an additional load resistor across the socket contacts to emulate an incandescent load.

Measure the cold resistance of the original bulb and use that as the baseline for choice of resistor. I'd use a 1-watt + resistor to be on the safe side of dissipation.

Or - just use the original bulb, lol ... so much simpler.

Thanks to fltdriver for picking up on this - good call!

Just came back to read replies and noticed my multiple posts. Completely unintentional.

Found out that some of the lights did not work due to the wires not making good contact and had to pry them out a bit before inserting into the holders. Did this during the day and it is impossible to tell what is working and what is not due to the light.

Got sidetracked last night and did not get to finish the job in the dark. Will try again tonight.

Replaced the battery light with original until I find out the result of how the LED could cause problems.

Thanks for the help so far.
