dads truck, 1995 302 XL, he went to start it the other day and it didn't start, not even a click or anything, he thought it was the alternator so he replaced it, still same thing. It starts occasionally just fine, then most times just nothing. He cleaned the battery terminals and thats all i know of that he did. Any help is appreciated. thanks guys.

well now theres just nothing, not a thing. i hooked my remote starter up to the starter relay on the fender and tried to start it and it went *click* then i smelled a burning smell and then there was no power getting to anything. checked the battery and its got 12v

I'd say bench test the starter. Did you load test the battery. It can have 12v but the amperage is what is needed.

i had these issues in my mustang and it was my starter starting to go out.

i have been having similar issues with my truck and it was the starter solenoid/relay and a bad battery cable

could also be that solenoid for the starter on the fender had that go out the same way sometimes would start fine other times no click or anything

i am having the same issue
