Ok, so I have on my hands a post fire command vehicle and well there are three antennas on the roof, I am assuming that they are UHF band antennas. Now in the case of why I am here: I haven't a clue how they work, so what I would like to know is brand, make, and cable port. I have tried for a while, and frankly unless you fix them or make them, there is practically no information on them. What I am truly interested on though is can they be re-purposed into CB antennas? and if not can they be used for any civilian use? Basically any information is pretty much useful.

There is a CB antenna that will fit that (NMO) mount if you want to use one of them for CB.

A few days too late I'm afraid. I just put a CB antennae on my bumper a week ago. Now I'm looking fo a UHF radio for the antennae. Thanks anyway.

What kind of UHF Radio do you think your going to use? I'd use one of the antenna for a scanner. You can't use it unless it's a licensed business band that your going to use for your business. Your not even sure what band the antennas are for. You've also got to get an swr meter to check for antenna match. Your not just going to grab a uhf/vhf radio and jump on it and talk. Not trashing you, just trying to make sure you understand what your getting into.

Edit..........and it's not a uhf antenna. VHF 1/4 wave antenna with no coil are normally around 19 - 23" and are trimmed for swr match. UHF 1/4 wave are between 5.5 - 6" and trimmed to match swr. Your antenna are more than likely 700-800mhz antenna. They can be trimmed for use on uhf but you have to have the uhf capable swr meter to do so. You cannot use an cb swr meter either. Wrong band for antenna matching. Take them off and buy an nmo cap to screw on them.

A 5" spike antenna can be cut for transmit on UHF 403 to 430 MHz. yours looks to be 6.5" it may be cut to be a receive only UHF antenna.
