I can say from 17 years with my 95, the factory setup will last forever inmost cases. However, the headlight relay mod is great and $30 is way too high of a quote, if you have a salvage yard nearby. I grab 5-10 relays every visit for .25 a piece. You only need one 30a relay for the high beams and one 30 amp relay for the low beams. 99% of the relays under most car hoods are 30 amps. Get 4 in case you should get a bad one. $1 for the relays and while your at the salvage yard, find yourself a low rider or pretty much any vehicle with an autozone $5 hood scoop and purple or neon green painted accents or 22" or 24" decals on the windows. They're sure to provide enough heavy gauge wiring from their pawn shop stereos to complete the job. Probably 10ft. of 8 gauge wiring would be plenty to do the relay upgrade. You might spend $5 for parts.

Hello crazzywolfie and 1967 Tempest,

from my post:
Replaced it, the switch and also, put in that wiring harness.
The one crazzywolfie recommended sold by LMC Trucks for $30. Is there more we should have done?

thanks, again, for your time.

Nope. Your done forever! IF IF the relay goes bad it is an easier fix, pop it out and slap in a new one.

Sorry, I didn't catch that you had already done the harness. I don't buy harnesses if it's a simple circuit. They're too cheap to build. If you've got the funds, have fun.

if you got most of the parts kicking around it can be cheap to build a harness but if you have to buy all the parts new it can get a bit expensive.

Last night we were able to give the truck lights a good test. Boy are they brighter and best of all no more blinking and going out.

Thank you for your help,
Chuck & Janice

P.S. as for the brightness I want to add that we had already used the 3M kit and buffed the fogged/discolored light housing. That worked out great, too. Now that we have lights that actually work we can tell how much that did for improving things.
