Well, I will tell you what. I may be able to afford the Spyder crystal headlights with clear corners, but I cannot afford to have them retro-fitted with projectors. I already have new OEM housings on their way which I may be able to resell. It is the best I can do.

Not to be an ***. But I wouldn't do it if you don't have the money to do it properly because its a hazard to other drivers. If someone is blinding me with hid's I turn on all my offroad lights and blind them back.

just aim the lights properly, iv never been flashed using my HIDs except for right after my lift because i forgot to re-aim. im still getting projectors because i think they look nicer on black trucks though.

They do blind people. Whether you choose to ignore that fact is up to you. As above, I do not mean to be an ***, but there is a reason that it is illegal under the Code of Federal Regulations on motor vehicle lighting equipment. They are dangerous to other drivers on the backroads, going into curves and your met by an AHOLE who does not care that his headlights are out of spec and knows that they are illegal. Sorry to be a jerk, but I drive an ambulance for a living on, primarily in a very large rural area, and as I said, people with aftermarket HID's have no clue just how blinding they are when they meet you coming around a corner. The only thing that I can say is, put your mother in the back of an ambulance, God forbid, and wait until the driver is blinded on a back country road and runs off of the road. This Aftermarket HID craze is an epidemic and numerous states are passing their own laws against them in an effort to enforce the practice where it is normally a state DOT issue only. I for one love them as an off road equipment upgrade, but they should carry the heaviest of penalties for on road use. Up to and including impounding the vehicle. I haven't the oportunity to flash my headlights at oncoming HID's very often. More frequently, I'm praying that I maintain my line around the curve without injuring my patients and Paramedics. I follow allot of F150CAM's posts, and mostly respect him, but can you honestly believe that your factory headlight housings can be properly aimed with an aftermarket electrical arc? Surely not!

im not saying projector housings aint better, im just saying alot of the blinding issues people are having is from people not aiming there lights right. i get blinded more from jackasses who use fog lights all the time then anything else, personally never been blinded by someone with HIDs that i can think of.

Im in no way hating on HIDs but I wanted them and bought the same kit as above. Easy to install and very bright but behind the wheel looking out the light was scattered and would hang between hi and lo beam sometimes. BUT what caused me to take them off was traveling around a dark mountain road and both went out and wouldnt refire. Drove home with the KCs and put it back to stock. If you do buy HIDs look at other brands first.

I've also had HID's just up and die on my atv's. No flicker, just went. Both ballasts went inexplicably. My current HID's on my Suzuki are flickering at idle. Aggravating. I'll be upgrading to 100/80 Hellas on it. I am contemplating the new clear smoked housings with the diamond reflectors and a set of Hella 100/80w H9's on my truck. I'll be upgrading the wiring along with it. $85 for the smoke housings, corner and turn lenses and $30 for the Hella bulbs. I got to see a set recently that were aimed correctly, actually, slightly downward and they performed as well as my 6" 100w off road lights on high beam except focused. The 80w low beam was bright, but very..........I guess you could call it pleasant? The high beams were freakin' awesome. I've got my off road lights wired into my high beams with a relay setup so they're on with my brights. I have to watch it though. I only use them on the straight aways when I can see for a long way that no one is coming at me. Saved me many deer strikes. I'm guilt of "Not Exactly Legal" on a few things, but the HID's are my personal enemy. It's tough working the long shift that I work, 84-96 hours straight, and the simplest of calls becomes very stressing after you go more than 24 hours without sleep sometimes. It's hard enough keeping focus on the road for a 30-40 mile ambulance ride at 2am with perfect weather. Toss in rain, fog and HID's with single beam only and it's enough to make you want to turn around and confront the driver with the HID's. Sorry to be a D**K!

i would like a nice suggestion for some HID offroad lights if you have any unit, id love some rigids but im not paying $1,000+ for a good setup.

Honestly, I'll get laughed at, but I'm running 6" 55w Harbor Freight Off Road Lights. I swapped the 55w bulbs for 100w bulbs before I did anything. Autozone for like $6.

Going on 2 years with no issues. Now, they are chrome and rust fast! I read the reviews and painted mine black gloss before ever installing them. Not one problem. $20 for the pair and a can of .99 cent Wally World Black Gloss. I've thought about replacing the H3 100w bulbs with HID's.


Shouldn't be a big deal to upgrade the 6" lights to HID's for under $60 total investment.

ah i got some of those 6" lights. and iv already done the 100w swap so ill try looking at those HID conversions.
