Default Help please!

I know our side of the forum is dead but since this is the only 9th gen forum I know. I've ran into a strange problem.

When I open my drivers door the interior lights won't come on - I could've sworn they did before? But when I open the passenger door it does.

Is it just me? Or is something wrong? I did notice the passenger door has a flood light while drivers doesn't.

To be honest my lady pointed it out.

94 f250

EDIT: Please move to general if I'll get more responses :/

Check your door switch for corrosion. Driver's door is the most used so the components wear faster. I replaced the one on my stepdad's 94 F350 dually as it did the same thing. Other than that you just have to chase wires coming from the switch to the fuse block. I'm not sure on any other reason as the passenger side activates the light.

Guessing I'd have to take the door apart to get to it if its what I'm thinking.

It has been a while since I fixed his truck. Should be a button connected to your door latch inside the door itself. You can try spraying a little lithium or WD in the upper part of the latching mechanism to see if it works. Other than that it's not too terribly hard to take off the panel and replace it. Granted I did it on a 350 Crew Cab with electric everything, so the panel may have been slightly different. You can get them on EBay fairly cheap or try your local auto parts. I would recommend getting a clip tool for removing the door if you don't already have one.

The switch is mounted to the door jamb on the cab, lower aft corner of the jamb. New one can be had from LMCtruck for $25. Part # 47-0616.

^this. The sensor treads into the jam and has a 3prong connector. It can be pulled out with a small socket.

I believe that would be the passenger side one, its threaded into the forward part of the jamb. The driver side appears to be held in by a screw and is on the aft section of the jamb. No idea why they used different switches on the two doors. My driver side stopped working, I sprayed some electronic cleaner into it and worked it a bit and its been working ever since.

Ahh ok Rusty. I assumed my 87 was the same. On mine both the passenger an driver sides are the same design. That stinks cause those are pretty straight forward.

It would still be a good idea to shoot some sort of lubricant on it.
