What do you mean the headlights go on and off? Like just randomly or when you hit a bump? Is it just when the brights are on or doesnt that matter? Does it do it if you turn the steering wheel? If so then the wires are shorting out on the steering wheel under the plastic piece where the wiring harness goes.

okay, well if the truck is not moving at all or the steering wheel is not being played with then I would say it is one of your switches. If it was shorting, a fuse would blow most likely. Its not your bright switch, since it does it on low beam. When it goes out, does the fog lights/corner lights also go out? How about tailights?

they go out on low or high beam, and the rest of the lights stay on

If I was a gambling man... I would put my money on the floor switch.. Takes alot of abuse, easy to change, and cheap. Im at work so I don't have a wire print but intermittent problems are difficult to troubleshoot without just throwing parts.
