Fuel Pump 92 F-150 4.9L 300ci Inline-6
#11
Sean I'm not doubting ur logic bud, but that fuel pump made that loud hum the day my dad brought it home brand new in 92 and it made it the same day it stopped. Then new pump I put in it before I parked it in the barn wasn't as loud, but it was still noticeable.

Well it just blows my mind still. I mean that pump ran like a champ. I connected just 2 single wires clipped to the +/- posts on the fuel sending unit, and then touched both those wires to battery posts and it kicked right on and worked. So if it works that way, but doesn't work when I actually hook it up to the wire harness on the truck, wouldn't it be a problem somewhere else?

Well I'm just now back from the gas station, and gettin a bite to eat, I'm gonna grab that test light and head back up to the barn now. I'll message ya back on here in like 20 mins. If I'm not gettin power to the pump at that point though, what do u think my next step would be?

I don't think I'm getting power back there, but I also looked and don't see any split in any of the wires. They are all incased in conduit and taped up. I'm gonna continue to check the wire harness with the test light but now I'm wonderin if I'm not gettin power back to the pump, where is it stopped at? Relays are good, and inertia switch isn't tripped.

Ok Sean, relays are good. I pulled each relay out that the book shows has to do with the fuel pump. Put the test light on them and they lit up. I put them back in, and removed the harness off the Inertia switch and checked it, and the light came on, I then put it back together. I went back to the fuel sending unit and checked the wire harness there, the test light came on, but very very very dim. So with that being said, is it possible that the fuel pump just ain't gettin enough juice to turn? And if that is the problem, I'm not sure where to go from here.
