Default Fuel check valve locations?

I have a 91 xlt lariat 5.0 dual tanks. Fuel runs the engine but like everyone else's also fills the tank not in use. I've seen a bunch of threads about replacing fuel pumps but where are the failed check valves? Are they in the senders? Or in the pumps themselves? Or are they external to the tanks? Thanks

They are part of the pump assembly, the easiest way to fix is just to replace the pump.

This is a good question though. In most cases the check valves fail along with the pumps but if one were to fail while the pump is fine, can JUST the valve be replaced?

The check valve is part of the pump assembly.

So there is no way to replace it individually? Good to know, thanks!

Actually there was a recall around 94 for failing check valves. Ford's solution was to put a check valve in the line. Possibly those check valves are still available.

Apparently the check valves are unavailable from ford... So aside from putting in my own external ones I have to replace the pumps.... Sucks because mine both still work great lol

Well if it's still running, at least you're saving the cost of a tow truck - that's 1/2 the cost of a pump right there
