Which EGR solenoid do I need? Black vs Grey cap
Hi guys,
So I have a strange one for you today. I'm working on my EGR system and already have my method figured out. The only question is: what EGR solenoid do I need? Its a 1993 F150 Flareside 5.0 AOD. Every parts catalog gives me the option of 2 different solenoids, one with a black cap and one with the grey. The kid before me didn't do his research when buying parts, and the solenoid is not original, so I can't go off what is there. I've been around the block with the wonderful "black vs grey" thing with the ignition module. The module should have been grey, but the kid before me had a black one in there and wondered why he was blowing through coils and modules. So that goes to show that he would have replaced a black solenoid with a grey one, or vice versa. With all that said, is there a way to figure out which one I need?
