Default ecu question

Is it possible to find the ecu number from my vin?

The Ecu number should be on the unit itself. However, you still need the vin because it tells you the year, engine and transmission combination which are important to finding the right one.

I would look at the commlputer itself but I no longer have the OEM computer. So I'm assuming I could look it up by the vin. Is there any way to look this up myself?
