Default Battery or alt problem after instrument cluster change

I have a 95 f150 short bed reg cab auto with the 5.0 I put the new cluster in with the tach Than within a day as i was driving the dash lights went out the radio went out the headlights went out and the truck died replaced the alt and battery been working fine as im currently in the ukraine for dec. My neice was driving my truck again and the same problem is starting again even though i drove it a few days with no problems could it be related to the new instrument cluster?.

could be...but, did you check all the connections from the battery...like grounds...this could of been the problem prior to the new battery...did you have your alt tested before replacing it ??...why did you replace the cluster to began with ??

You put in the wrong year cluster, which doesn't complete the charging circuit like the old one did. It can be made to work though by switching around a few wires.

Yeah i got it off ebay it said for 94-95 models any info on where i could find the info on switching the wires. And i replaced to get the tach as it just had the non tach gauge.

It has been posted here how to do it. You could trace the printed circuit boards on the clusters to figure it out.

Also, did the battery light work? Some won't charge if the battery light is blown.

Lol im not even sure if it was working as i put it in and it went vroom and drove once i get back from beating the brakes off some of these fine ladies here in the ukraine i will check the bulb first thing.
