Default Another Ignition/Column problem

Hello, I have a 95 flareside Auto/Tilt 5.0 188K that has been used but not abused the last 18 years. Since I am restoring it I wanted to change out the defective/damaged items on the column. Steering wheel, clockspring due to flashing airbag light and no cruise/horn, shift lever, PO gorilla glued od switch in. and last but not least lock cylinder was severely damaged. So went to local u-pull got a shift lever and steering wheel, bought new clockspring and lock cylinder and started my project. Got it all apart with no issues. replaced shift lever put on top column cover went to replace lock cylinder and it will not release key or go to ACC. Did I possibly not get something lined back up right when I replaced shift lever? Ideas? I have a dealer shop manual but can't make out the diagram.
Thanks in advance.
Mark

Got it. Plastic column cover knocked the shift lever just enough to prevent the lock cylinder from seating right.
