If you want to use 2-8awg lines you will have to splice into a 4awg then mount the 150amp inline fuse in the 4awg, making sure to stay within 18" total of the alternator. Or... Use a single 150 amp fuse and run both 8's to that, then either 4awg or two 8's again to the solenoid, again fuse within 18" of alternator.

I'm tired so if this doesn't make sense it's probably me.
Yes. I follow you. I think the 2-8ga wires into fuse, 150a fuse, and then 4ga to solenoid would work fine.

Turns out, the fuse holder was good for 4 gauge. There was an insert you have to take out and then a bigger wire will fit in there. I got me a 4 gauge battery cable from AZ with a ring terminal already on one end. They had some copper ring terminals to fit it. Put it all together and was able to squeeze it down slightly, so the ring terminal fit the alternator a little better. All together and working fine.

I also got my welding cable, ring terminals, and battery connectors yesterday. Been so busy, I hadn't even had a chance to open the box. Won't get a chance to work on it for another week or so, due to meetings/training at work all this week. But it looks like a fun job.

Thanks again, for the help, guys!

FWIW I went on a longer drive today, running around for about 45mins or so and my alternator was HOT. I could put my hand on it but I for sure wouldn't want to keep it there.

Do you have an e-fan? Since I noticed my alternator gets hotter according to how long the fan is running, I figure being stuck in traffic on a hot day would heat it up pretty quickly. Same with running head lights, radio, a/c fan, etc. The more I have on, the quicker it heats up. I'd say it also absorbs heat from the motor itself, if I drive it long enough.

E-fan, 2-10" subs, and a lot of electrical extras that I use on the regular. This time I hadn't really had anything pulling current too hard. Stereo wasn't cranked, fan was only kicking on when directed, daytime so no lights, none of the extras were in use either.

I agree that it pulls heat from the engine as well.
