Default Aftermarket Stereo?

I installed a cheep boss aftermarket stereo in my 96, cause it only played tapes, and it just doesn't meet my expectations. The clock isn't always showing, and even if it was, it doesn't have a wire for constant power, which leaves it no memory. So I'm just wondering what you guys use in your trucks, or if there is a way to fix the constant power problem. Thanks!

constant power is the easy one. Just run a wire directly to the battery.

and no, it wont kill your battery.

The truck already has constant power, the stereo don't have a wire for it.

Your Boss deck doesn't have a solid yellow wire from the pigtail?

I put a cheap Kenwood in mine. Works fine. Had to replace the crap stock speakers and I ended up putting a cheap 4-channel amp in as well, but it worked fine without that stuff...just the new deck.

Honestly....I'm not real sure. I think it only displays when the ignition is on. It does keep time, though...and holds stations that I've programmed.

I can let you know for sure here in a bit. I'm getting ready to hit the woods this morning.

Yep. Clock displays only with the ignition on.

i would look for a owners manual online for that stereo. There has to be a constant 12v. maybe its not yellow out of the pigtail?
