Changed instrument cluster from one without tach to one with a tach. Why Ford would sell manual trans truck without one i dont know. Truck has died twice since change. Replacement cluster seems fine. Is there anything in cluster to make truck run bad or is it a coincidence?

it could just be a coincidence but have you made sure you dont have a bad connection or loose wire somewhere?

my mechanic says looks like alernator not sending current to battery. May be bad cluster. I am puting old one back to see if it fixes the issue

what year truck did your new cluster come from? there are small differences between the years. this is one of the problems that arises from having the wrong year cluster in there. i know from other threads here others have had this issue. the new cluster needs to be from a 95. also you need to know if your truck is OBDI or OBDII. some later 95's got OBDII. so the new cluster also has to match that as well.

I replaced the one in my 94 f150 and it drained the batt so i changed the alt and battery and i was told that the charging circuit is different so i would have to swap some wires anyone know where that thread is
