Default 1990 XLT 5.2 Fuel Gauge Problem

Everything else on the dash is working correctly except for the fuel gauge. It's been stuck on E for the past couple of months it worked briefly a couple weeks ago (about a day or so) and then cut back off. How do I fix it so I'm not blindly putting gas in?

Since everything else on the dash is working, I would guess it's the sending unit in the tank. You may be able to jumper it to check the gauge on the dash.
