Default 1987 F150 4.9L tachometer install

I'm having trouble finding the negative coil wire to splice the green wire into from my tachometer. Is it a dark green wire with a yellow stripe or a tan wire with a yellow stripe? I've read all prior posts and the answers are contradictory. Also, is the keyed power wire red with a yellow stripe on my 87? Last question, the installation instructions for my tachometer (Auto Meter) strongly suggests using an engine ground. Is that necessary or can I use a ground under my dash, which would be easier to do?
Thanks for any and all help. (Pictures would be great)

Well I got it working. FYI it is the dark green wire with yellow stripe. I didn't fool with the dummy plug some people mentioned. If anyone needs help with installing one on their 87 I will be happy to help.
