Default 1987 f150 4.9 6 cyl

I have a ford 150 that I have been trying to start with no luck. have replaced everything from coil, distributor, wires, cap, rotor, modular... still get no spark to wires. could it be ballist resistor?

as in diagnostic code? how can I when I can't get it running?

Depends on the scanner you can get ahold of. Some can read codes even if it won't fire in the troubleshooting mode. Not sure if you have the OBD I plug or not. It all depends on the adapters with the scanner (ScanTool). The shop I used to work at read everything from the time you plugged it in to the time you cranked it.
