Well here we go!

Bench is out - the pic doesn't quite do justice to how bad it is, but you can clearly see where good old stepdad had his center console where he kept his ash tray. You can also see all of the spots where he missed. Taking it to the shop this afternoon.

Carpet is out - now that I see it I am really questioning whether or not the pressure washer has a chance. Might have to try some of that carpet spray paint.

Here is a pic just to **** off the guys from the rust belt

Lol mines from Tennessee so there. But give it a few years here by the mistake by the lake an rust will be an issue. I plan to do as much preventive measures as I can to help keep it at bay.

I was watching a YouTube video the other day and a guy had a 1983 F-250 that spent its life in Arizona. The frame and underside of that truck looked as pristine as the day it rolled off the assembly line! I think it's time for new carpet (or "cah-pit" as the boys in Boston would say).

I'm gonna give it the old college try and and pressure wash/paint it first to save $150. Supposed to be 80 degrees here next two days.

I am skeptical as to how well it will work lol

Planning on cleaning everything up? Have you thought about renting a carpet cleaner? I own a rug doctor an it works wonder sometimes. You can rent them by me at drug Mart's, not sure if you have that chain by you.

I'd saturate that nasty carpet in Purple Power degreaser over night as part of the pressure washing procedure. I wish someone would do a YouTubev video on a step by step how to remove a 1992-1996 F150/250/350 dash. I'd like to remove mine to clean out all the dust/pollen/debris in all the cracks and crevices. I suppose I could go to a salvage yard some day and remove one out of a junker and learn how to do it myself.

I have a carpet steam cleaner but I'm not so sure how well it will work because of the contours of the carpet - I'm gonna give the pressure washer a shot first. Otherwise yeah the reason for stripping everything is to clean up 22 years of funk and cobwebs. Also, when I pulled the carpet the passenger side floorboard is wet, so I was trying to figure out where the water was coming in, and I think I have it nailed down to a bad windshield seal. So I need to pull the dash and clean up behind there. That's today's project most likely.

I'm still considering doing vibration dampening material - I found some stuff on amazon from a company called Noico that is MUCH cheaper than dynamat and seems to have good reviews.

I'm also going to pre-wire everything needed for a car stereo amplifier - RCA's, power, remote start, and speaker wires. When the budget allows it is going to be the next big project.

If anyone has any other advice on what to do while everything is out let me know. I'd like to never do it again.

I've got big bottles of super clean and simple green - figured those would do the trick. The dash doesn't look all that challenging to remove actually - for me the challenge its making sure all of those connections and vacuum lines are undone - then get reconnected properly.

Well the bench is back and the results are nothing short of stellar!
