Default Have any of you used Coverlay dash covers?

Hello! I am new to the forum, picking up a 1996 F150 Supercab on Friday. The truck drives out nicely but has some issues with the interior, one issue being a couple of cracks in the dash. Not unexpected for the age of the truck, but it is already driving my mild OCD tendencies into spasm.

I saw Coverlay sells thin plastic dash covers that mount with silicone adhesive and the reviews I read were overwhelmingly positive.

Have any of you used this product on an F series dash? If so, what are your thoughts on the result? Does the cover only cover the top portion of the dash or does it wrap done down over the front? My guess is that it is a sheet that lays on the top and from the pics I saw, that is what it looks like.

Thanks!
Chris

Is the actual hard plastic dash cracked, or just the vinyl dash pad.
Dash pad is fairly simple to change.
Dash is much more complicated.

It is the dash pad. I found a few on e-bay, but not in the blue color that I need. I did not realize that the pad was actually a separate piece, so that is good to know.

Thanks!

Remove your radio and glove box to get at all the nuts. $80 is a common price for a used one in perfect condition.

Your other option Is to re-cover it. I plan on doing mine after it warms up. I've been pricing the vinyl to re-do it at a local upholstery shop. I'm figuring it will cost around half of what it would be to replace it.

I may check out a local shop to see what it would cost. I assumed it would be high, but I have see the dash pads on E-bay for as much as $150 (although there were some priced lower), my interior is that medium blue color...if it had been grey, I would have purchased a replacement already since there are several on E-bay at the moment.

If you don't have access to a local junk yard or pullapart place you may check car-parts.com, it's an online junk yard co-op. They rate their items and give the #'s of the sellers, you can contact them for pics of the exact one to make sure it's color/condition you want.

Thank you for the suggestion! I cruised car-parts.com and that is certainly worth a deeper look when I get ready to replace mine.

It seems that grey dash pads are all over...if only my interior were grey and not blue...

If you have some time on your hands, the best idea to fix your cracked dash is to take it off and cover it in fabric you can buy from walmart that you apply with adhesive spray. I've done it to a lot of parts in my truck with realtree camo to give it that little extra custom look.

Here's my dash that a friend of mine sewed up a cover for and then applied it with adhesive. Looks great, and only cost me the price of the vinyl cover. Glad I have talented friends!
