Bench seat adjustment handle connection?
95 XL
I have the bench seat. I took it off this weekend to clean the floors. The wire between the left and the right looks like a gerry rigged 10 pound picture frame wire. I just broke it trying to tighten it.
How is the original done? Is it with some sort of door spring device? Like this:
------------&&&&&&&&-----------
Wire/spring/wire ?
Is is it a rod? Like I need to find a flat piece of metal and screw a nut and bolt at the end?
Or was it good cabling pulled tight and cinched down on the ends?

I think I found a pic of it, sort of, from LMC catalog but it has no replacement. Doesn't look like a cable. I was going to buy cable and ferrules at the hardware store but still not sure. From this picture, it looks like a cable. Can someone confirm under their bench for me? Thanks!

So I got this working. I got some 1/16 gauge wire. And I don't know what its called but looks like those things that tighten the cables on the side of the road. It has 2 eyes on each end and a long nut thing that you turn one way, and the eyes come in. Turn the other way, and the eyes move out. I used that right in the middle so when the cable stretches, I can turn the nut thing and tighten it.

thats a turnbuckle...
the thing you were trying crimp is usually called a ferrule, many times the smaller ones can be done with wiring crimpers but the bigger ones need special crimpers..

Yes! I used wiring crimpers and it worked fine for the small ones. I was surprised. I can now move the bunch up and down.
