Default 7th gen dash into 8th gen

Not sure if any one has done it. Just wondering how hard would be or if it would just bolt in. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

I knew that was coming . Lol because I hate the look of 87 to 91 dash. And because I want truck to be a combination of 9th 8th and 7th gen . 9th gen front clip with 7 gen dash in an 8th gen truck .

Wiring issues.
It can be done as the cab is basically the same other than firewall changes, but you may wish you hadn't started once you get into it.

Physically it will bolt in there, but like the guy above me said, the wiring is going to be different. I do love the 7th gen dash though, put up some pictures if you go through with it!

I'm just not sure what kind of wiring would be different I have looked at wiring diagrams and a lot are the same but my biggest concern is the heater shape and size and how to make the hoses and every thing work . But wiring I don't see a big issue because wiring is my strong point but really all I need to know is of there is any cutting of cab required .but if I go threw with it I will take plenty of photos.

The heater box might be an issue but I think you'll find that the holes for the plugs in the firewall are different so the wiring is going to be specific to the truck - your dash harness will have to be swapped over to the replacement dash and then some of the things might not plug in. Might get to be a bit of a cluster**** but if you're wiring savvy and determined it can be made to happen - I've seen a 95 wiring system and engine management be swapped in to an 85 - but it took a long time.

No cab cutting at all, no worries! I say wiring will be different because of the HVAC system, as well as the gauges. If it were me I'd ditch the factory gauges and put some aftermarkets in The speedo cable may be different from year to year as well. If you've got the 7th gen truck, it'd make life a lot easier to get the evaporator or whatever the AC ducting is all called behind the dash as well, it's going to be different than an 8th gen

Oh! The vin number is also on the dash. You'll need to find a way to legally swap the plate off your dash on to the donor dash. Otherwise you're going to be in for hell when the dashboard doesn't match the title

VIN's not on the dash, it's on the cab. The dash has a cutout so you can see it.

Thanks for the correction. I've always seen it in my window and just figured it was on the dash
