Default Tire on stock rims

Hi I have a 1991 4x4 and I currently have 31x10.5x15 on the stock rims I was wondering is the stock rims are 10x15s or are they smaller then that? Also since I have lifter my truck the tires look very small, I was wondering is I could safely run 35x12.5x15 on these rims? Thank you

stock wheels are not 10 inches wide...and I do not think that big of tire will work either..

Most stock wheels are 15x7s on F150s but their are some 15x8s.

I have always heard that you can go 3" above the rim size and still be good, I thought the stock size was 15x7.5, hence a lot of people going 31x10.5, if you have a lift you should have no problem with 33's, 35's may work but you may have to measure for sure and they may rub on full turn.

15x12.5 on stock wouldn't be recommended, not saying it can't be done, just that I wouldn't recommend it.

I ran 33x12.5 on the stock 15 x 7.5 or 8 rims for a few years. In the spring I bought 15x10 with less backspacing and when I was switching the tires over there was writing on the sidewall recommending a 8" wide rim, you should be fine, might just have rubbing issues on the radius arms.

I forgot their is also a 15x7.5

It is hard to find the 15x7s and 15x8s on trucks but I have seen them stock.

So would I be okay with the 35x12.5 or should i just put 33X10.5 and deal with the small tire look. I don't have money to be able to buy the rims and tires

I just put 32 11.50's on my stock rims. They fit ok, (they do rub on the radius arm at full crank) but I think 12.50's would be pushing things on stock rims.

Thank all of you for your reply's it really helped. Final question, does anyone know what would be the largest tire to fit on the stock rim safely, 33s?

On a stock rim, assuming you have the 7.5 inch rims, I wouldn't recommend any bigger than a 33x12.5. You may be able to fit bigger, but one: they WILL rub like crazy, and two: they don't balance for ****. The more tire you have the harder they get to keep balanced. If you want anything bigger than 33s I would recommend at least a 15x10 rim with less back spacing.

EDIT: does anybody know what the back spacing is on the factory wheels? And does that differ between the steel and aluminum wheels?
