Rust keeps getting worse every time I look at it
Today I wanted to see just how bad the rust is on my 93. It seems like my entire passenger side of the cab from the door back is bondo. I thought my bed just had surface rust but I was wrong. I actually started to cry today when I was stabbing the rust. Here's a few photos of how bad it is

I'm looking at more than 1400 for new metal, paint, primer and clear coat, then there's the cost of getting new metal welded in, and then rust I can't get new metal for fixed, and getting it painted. I'll be looking at over 3 grand for the rust to be fixed right. I want to fix my truck but for 3 grand I could buy an obs f350 diesel that is in better shape

To me, you only have 3 options.
1. Fix it correctly and drive it until it's done
2. Bandaid it with some stop rust paint/adhesive and wait for it to fall apart
3. Sell it and get you a truck that you want without all the rust.
Me personally, I'd fix it correctly. That being said, I have other means of transportation and could let it sit for a while.

Our eternal problem indeed....
Funny how there has been a known solution for this since the 40's, but only recently, have we seen aluminum bodies. It will be interesting to see how they hold out over the years in snow/salt country....
Once rust takes over, the repairs are expensive, or if you fix it yourself your labor is very intensive. Either way it's a major deal if you can't stand the look of it. I have even tried fiberglassing everything, which kind-of, soft-of works well but get ready to work your butt off.

I tried that dupli color stuff that " applies clear, eats rust and turns into a sandals black primer ". Didn't do **** like I figured. I plan on replacing the bedside, rockers and fenders with new metal. The rusted metal I can't replace will be cut out and patched with fiberglass or sanded down and costed to prevent rust from coming back

I feel your pain! Hate rust, its so invasive and destructive. Besides already not liking the cold and snow, i couldnt stand either having to watch the truck rot away infront of my eyes or buying a winter beater and having the truck sit for 6 months. Forget that! Moved to Florida, wont ever go back. Planning on starting frame off restoration in 2017, rust repair and future rust prevention is where most of the $ is being allotted.
Working at a repair shop, i was blown away with how many cars less than 10 years old would fail inspection due to rot. Such a shame
