Hi Guys,

Haven't posted in a while been busy with school! I love my F150 but I feel like it doesn't look tough enough against some of the jeeps and other trucks at school. It's only 2wd so i have no intention on lifting it but I would like some other ideas on Exterior mods to make it tougher, and more unique.

I bought plasti dip and blacked out the emblems which is pretty cool, and then stupidly plasti-dipped blue the grille and headlight bezels after a while I took it off, and some of it still hasn't come off as it doesn't peel as well as advertised!

Ive removed this now and its back the way it was before
Please any ideas I've looked on Carid etc but don't know what works best.
Also i'm not the richest of students so take that into consideration!

I am a fan of the stock look myself, but I've seen a lot of people black out as much of the truck as they can and that doesn't look to bad (not a fan of flat black paint though). What color is your grille? Mine was argent gray and replaced it with black. I think that made my truck a little more aggressive. My truck is dark blue, not white. Don't know what rims you have or tire size but that in itself without adding other after market stuff can change the whole feel. I have the stock 5 blade rims, which I like, but going to get taller tires to help fill the hole the next time. I have 235's right now, don't know how tall a tire I can put on these rims without rub.

Tires make the truck! I know they can be pricey but that is the single most effective way to make your truck look more aggressive while maintaining a stock look. For a 2wd I wouldn't go any bigger than a 31x10.5R15. They fill up the wheel wells nicely, don't affect gas mileage or handling much, and make it go from a wee-little-baby-truck to a MAN-TRUCK! Also, you could cut the plastic valance off of the bottom of your bumper, it gives the illusion that your truck sits higher. all of which I've done to mine.

Also: (depending on your taste) Those cheap little .89 cent letters at autozone? Put FORD across the front of the hood (lined up with the uprights of the grille) and it damn near matches the 80-81 trucks.

I have to agree with Mista Breeze on this one with that the Tires are one of the top ways to make a truck mean. Stock height on a 2wd would call for a maximum of the 31x10.5x15 like Mista Breeze said also, which fill the space MUCH better, and look a lot better, but you can get stock size tires with some aggressive looks too.

If you don't want to stop there, try a bull bar/grille guard, along with the bumper itself. The bumper you have, also like mine, isn't very aggressive looking. The picture that Mista Breeze posted has another F150 bumper from that year, and I think they look more aggressive. As for the Bull Bar/Grille Guard, some people like them and some people don't. Personally, I like the smaller ones that are more of a bumper guard with 2 or 3 auxiliary lights.

You said you aren't into a suspension lift, but another big thing is leveling the truck out like a 4x4.Some people swear by F250 springs, others MOOG, but in the end, they are all off by a little bit, and they incredibly easy to install alongside that they aren't horribly expensive either. Makes the stance of the truck a little better without. If you do go with leveling the truck out, DO NOT forget to get an alignment, otherwise you will ruin tires and other components, plus it's not going to be comfortable to drive.

Is it a shortbed? If it is I would go for a lightning look.

It's 2wd lower it! Big tires and lift is for 4x4s. I would paint the grill satin black or color match, paint the bumpers satin black, and get some euro style headlamps and turn lamps. Put some dark tint on the windows (depending on laws in your area). And definitely get some wheels.

Yeah in the past I blacked out a lot of the truck with plastidip just not the grille or bumpers and it looked pretty good but it started peeling in the monsoon season so i took it off. The original grille is argent gray. I've thought about buying the black grille option as it is only $20, or even get the chrome grille with black inserts but I'm not quite sure if chrome would go with it. I also have the same rims as yours and yeah I definitely think bigger tires would be great. The stock are a bit small, there the same size as our family minivan

thanks for the info on the tires I will definitely check that out. I don't want to do anything that really effects the gas mileage as it bad enough as it is!
Also is the valence easy to take off, and can you put it back on?

I actually did a photoshop of the truck

lowered with blacked out rims, and tinted the lights etc. Also the windows a bit more but i messed that up and couldn't undo do it so the windows have no opacity! (ignore the windows)

Oh yeah and I do have the hubcap it just fell off and i haven't put it back on yet!
