Yep, I lube every new car or truck I get, the 93 was having the same issue with the tailgate sprayed some lithium on it and worked brand new. My 94 I lube the non suspension moving parts like the throttle linkages door latches hood release ect. Every 1-2 years depending on when I remember.

But will lubricating fix the exterior door handle? It feels like somethings missing when I push the button

That's what my truck did, worst case you lube your trucks door. Just roll the window down in the event of failure, be sure you have the door rods in correctly as well....
