Default 1996 F150 Hood jammed; part on hood

Hi. Recently purchased a 1996 F150. I was having issues with the hood not closing and asked someone to take a look at it. While I was at work, they stopped at the house and got it closed- too closed; it is now jammed.

I've seen a few threads and videos that talk about the lower latch near the grill, but nothing shows what the connection is supposed to look like on the hood itself. Is it just a rectangular opening with a flat rectangular piece that sticks in from the side or could I be missing the piece that the latch is supposed to connect to?

Since this was jammed shut, is my best bet to try to remove the screws holding the latch?

Thanks in advance!

this happened to me once, and I yep, I unscrewed it from the radiator and lifted it up, from there its easy to get out and reset it. the reason it happens is from the latch being bumped to the closed position while the hood's up

Thanks for the quick reply and explanation. Is there anything other than the flat piece and opening on the hood itself?
