What causes my oil pressure to rise??

Without reading through the entire thread, I'm going to venture and say that you probably have some grounding issues. Might want to either replace, upgrade or add some additional ground wires on and from your battery.

I just cleaned all of the visible grounds. although there is a ground strap bolted onto the firewall on the passenger side that is not hooked up. Any ideas where it goes??

It goes to the top of the support bracket on the passenger side of the upper intake manifold. When you attach it make sure it's metal-to-metal and not metal-to-paint-to-metal.
