Default Torque Convertor or internal problem?

Hey guys, new to the forum but I have a 1990 5.0 with the E4OD. I recently just started driving the truck for about 2 weeks or so. My problem is that I believe that something maybe wrong with the torque convertor, but I'm not really sure. The truck shifts fine through 1st and 2nd, but once it gets to 3rd if feels like the torque convertor slams when it locks up. So far I have replaced the TPS, the Speed Sensor on the rear diff, and the solenoid pack. All this with no change. Im probably going to put it in the shop this week but I was just looking for any ideas you guys may think it could be, or possible fixed I could try.

Thanks in advance.
Matt

Have you driven it in "D", rather not in overdrive? Do the same thing?

No I haven't tried that, do you mean just turning the overdrive off with the button? On the dash I just have: P R N (OD) 2 1.

Yes, my bad. My sis-in-law has an '89 w the AOD and it does the same thing, except when not in OD.

If it doesn't do it when I turn overdrive off does that mean there's something wrong with the convertor?

Yours is the electrically controlled version so it could be a solenoid.....on the good side.

Edit: didn't remember you had changed the solenoids. still could be electrical.

Got the truck back, the problem ended up being the springs in the accumulator. I believe one was broken, so they ended up installing a "rebuild kit" with all new springs and new valves. Thanks for the help.
